Melt Comparison

We make so many decisions regarding what to feed our children in a day. Depending on where your child is on their solids journey, you may be selecting 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks. If you are anything like me, you are constantly reading the food label section before feeding your little one.

Foods I have learned that have some sneaky extra ingredients are SNACKS, especially puffs/melts. Around 9 months we introduced Amara’s Smoothie Melts to help with chewing confidence. As a feeding therapist and mom I love serving their melts because not only do they have great ingredients, but they are a great tool to practice chewing while they melt fairly quick. There are several melts on the market. I want you to see for yourself what is the winner of the best ingredient profile. I broke it down so you can see what I look for in a label.

As you can see, I choose Amara melts because they are

·      Organic

·      Clean label product verified

·      Contains no fillers or flavors

·      No added sugar

·      Contains whole veggies

There is so much sneaky sugar in so many baby foods and snacks. I was shocked to see them in other brands, I really had no idea I kind of just assumed no added sugar was needed in the fruit melts. Amara is the winner across the board. I purchase mine directly from their website or from Costco. Do ALL of our snacks have to be organic and triple checked ingredients, not necessarily. BUT, if you can find an easy and delicious choice, I say go for it.

Start serving around 9 months in a safe, seated position (learn more details about how to serve here). Enjoy!
