Overnight Oats

I savor calm(er) mornings (never all the way calm) filled with connection before the day officially begins. One way to do this, is prepping the night before as much as I can but it also has to be quick prep because I don’t want to be in the kitchen all evening. I’m telling you this is IT. Overnight oats are an easy and healthy breakfast for busy families, suitable for both babies 6 months+ and adults.

You really can’t mess it up. The biggest tip is to make sure the oats are covered in your milk of choice so they are creamy and not dry. I really don’t usually measure anything but this is around what I add. I like for it to last a couple days depending on who is eating it. I prefer using frozen blueberries because I feel they come out the best the next morning (or fresh blueberries works too). If you want to test it out without making a bigger batch, I would cut the ratio is by 1 cup milk 1 cup oats. Make sure you use rolled oats! I like to do in a big bowl- these stainless steel bowls with lids are great. If you plan on taking them to-go, jars like this work too. Okay here’s my recipe of simple, no sugar added, baby friendly overnight oats!

Ingredients

2 cups rolled oats

2 cups milk

1 mashed banana

1/2 cup of frozen blueberries

1 tbsp of chia or flax

1 tbsp nut butter

optional:

1 tsp vanilla extract

shake of cinnamon

Directions

  1. In a big mixing bowl add all ingredients except for nut butter and mix. Add more milk if needed so it covers the oats. The chia seeds will absorb some of the liquid.

  2. Once combined, refrigerate overnight.

  3. Add a scoop of nut butter to when ready to serve

6months+ serve on loaded spoon or scoopable in bowl with hands!

Stays fresh in the fridge up to 4 days!
